Most people are never taught how beautiful their individual self is. They are only taught what others think the way things should be that are subject to the same problems. They aren't taught to dream better or to achieve their dreams. This blog is to teach this very thing.
Power of Imagination
The most amazing thing about being human to me is our imagination. Imagination is probably one of the most important abilities that we have. It takes place in the frontal lobe of our brain. It has the ability to form mental images, concepts and sensations. Children have great imagination, it's why they play so much. To exercise their imagination. A person who thinks they are ugly due to perhaps a large nose and/or large ears, is only due to imagination. He feels uncomfortable in social situations and feels his wife is ashamed of him because of his "abnormal nose and ears" There is nothing wrong except for the problems he's creating with his imagination. His nose isn't different than other people with similarities and even though his ears are slightly larger than normal is nothing but the same with millions of other people. Nothing but his imagination wreaking havoc on his self-image. He wasn't ugly and people didn't make fun of him or even comment on what he thought was wrong.
People act and feel according to what they imagine to be true about themselves and their environment. This fundamental law of mind is the way our minds are built. The brain cannot tell the difference between imagined experience and real experience. This is the greatest power about being human that no other animal can compare to. We have the ability to synthesize experience. Before we decide to do something, we have the capabilities of synthesizing the experiences in our minds first. Your nervous system will act to what you believe. You will act and feel not according to what things are like but based on the image you have in your mind of it. If you change your thoughts, you can change your choices, change your choices and you can change your life.
Our imagination can do so much more than just figuring out how we want to do something before hand. Since the brain cannot tell the difference between real or synthesized experience. This allows us with learning and further training. For example, a pro basketball player can do all the physical training he can. However to keep making these perfect shots he would practice in his mind. Because, in his mind he can make perfect shots every time. As he continues to create these perfect shots in his mind, he would build neurological connections based on the synthetic experience of these shots.
I watched a T.V. show that was explaining how a gymnast was trying to perfect a new move so she can go to the Olympics. After fail, after fail and fail. She would take breaks and just imagine herself over and over grabbing the bar. Now she's in the Olympics. Now that I am starting to flex my imagination, it's very exciting. I play piano and I been trying to play these very hard songs. So I been just imagining playing it perfectly since I know all the notes it's just a matter of coordination and timing. As I have been imagining playing I could literally feel the sensation in my body as if I was really playing the piano. It's making me better! Exercise your imagination!
